Lisandro set for Tykes bow

New Barnsley signing Lopez Lisandro is in line to start against Leicester City

Division 3 side Barnsley return to Oakwell tomorrow looking to banish the disappointment of their weekend defeat to QPR with Leicester City the opposition for Steve Thompson's men. Despite bettering Rangers in every department the Tykes were unable to find the back of the net and their wastefulness was punished with 20 minutes of the game remaining when Aiden McGeady scored what proved to be the winner with a tame shot that found it's way past Ochoa in the Barnsley goal.

After the game Thompson blasted his side for their lack of cutting edge calling the performance powder puff and promised to find the ruthlessness needed to gain promotion from the division that ruthlessness looks set to be unleashed in the shape of 30 year old Argentine striker Lopez Lisandro. The former Bournemouth man signed for Barnsley before the QPR game but a SMFA suspension meant that his debut had to wait until this Wednesday when Gozzy Raikkonen and his Leicester side will provide the opposition.

Lisandro brings impressive stats with him to Oakwell scoring a staggering 91 goals in 222 appearances and assisting in a further 60 with spells at Wolves, MK Dons and more recently at AFC Bournemouth to his name. Those stats are what Thompson will be hoping Lisandro can replicate and fire his team to promotion from division 3 at the third attempt.

On Lisandro Thompson had this to say .....

" He is a superb capture for this club. He has scored goals at every club he has been at and we are hoping he can replicate that here and help us on our way to promotion. He is different to the other attacking options we have at the club and i feel he could fit into a few systems we play.

He can give is the cutting edge we need to go that one step further in this division and i am very much looking forward to working with him"
