Bittersweet for new boy Lisandro
Barnsley ended their two game losing streak on Saturday as they picked up an away point after a 2-2 draw st St Andrews against Luis Veigas Birmingham City. The result See's Steve Thompson's men climb to 14th in the division 3 table but the Tykes will be bitterly disappointed not to have taken all three points after dominating their opponents for much of the game.
Barnsley were forced to make one change from the team that were beaten last time out against Leicester with Adelino Vieirinha coming in for his full debut in the place of long term injury victim Marko Arnautovic.
Barnsley started the game on the front foot pushing the host deeper into their own territory and their pressure was rewarded with 29 minutes gone when they made it 0-1 courtesy of Lopez LISANDRO who's powerful free-kick squeezed through the Birmingham wall and past Costil for his first goal in Barnsley colours. The Tykes certainly had their tails up and it got better just 5 minutes later as they made it 0-2 Lopez LISANDRO again the scorer Rolling a shot past Costil after a neat pass from Perrin.
The home faithful were clearly stunned but were given hope with 37 minutes on the clock when Darío CVITANICH fired home to make it 1-2 but just before half time Barnsley were handed a golden chance to get back the two goal advantage when the referee pointed to the penalty after a handball by Alessio Cerci who received a yellow card for his troubles and it was Lisandro who was given the chance to claim the match ball but the Argentines well struck penalty was superbly saved by the reliable Costil much to the relief of Cerci
Barnsley started the second period like they did the first pushing Birmingham back but Costil in the home goal stood firm to deny a couple of early chances and keep his side in the game. Costil's heroics were to prove vital for his team as with 66 minutes gone the game was all square Roman EREMENKO was the hero for Birmingham lobbing keeper Ochoa with a well placed header to make it 2-2.
Birmingham looked delighted to be back on level terms whilst Thompson was raging with his team on the touchline and despite a the best efforts of the Tykes to try and regain the lead it wasn't to be as Birmingham held strong to claim an unlikely point and leave Thompson to ponder on what should have been.

It's once again a case of what should have been. Far too many times since we won promotion to this division i have had to stand here and talk about draws what should have been wins. Tonight we were by far the better side but our lack of concentration and Birmingham's Ruthlessness in front of goal has seen 2 more points dropped.
We have had chances to win two matches tonight but we have found a keeper in inspired form who has saved his side from one hell of a beating tonight. Looking at the positives we have got amongst the goals again, Lopez is gutted as he has missed the penalty but you can't be to harsh on him this was his second game for us and i thought he led the line superbly he showed what he is about and that's promising.
We now look ahead to our midweek game against Chesterfield who will be right up for it. We beat them in the play offs so they will want revenge. They have started the season really well and will come to Oakwell full of confidence.
